We are Tom and Judy, a Husband and Wife team, we live in our little apartment in Stansted, Essex with our furry children Tilly, Jay and Lizzie.
Other than photography we are both avid walkers (we have a life-long love affair with the English Lake District), pet lovers, movie lovers & book lovers.
Tom is the original founder of the company (if you hadn’t already guessed) and as Tom’s writing this I’ll switch to first person so I don’t confuse myself! I have had a fascination with music, art and photography since I was in my early teens and surrounded myself with magazines, posters and towards my mid-teens, the internet. My fascination became a hobby when I nicked my Dad’s Olympus OM30 for a holiday to Cornwall and (inadvertently) took some fabulous photos, I shortly bought my first digital SLR and started snapping anything and everything that took my fancy.
During the ‘snapping anything and everything’ stage I realised people were much more interesting to photograph than buildings and bugs and so I honed my skills. That brings us neatly up to where Thomas Day Photography started. Since I started the company I have had the pleasure of shooting Weddings, portraits, headshots, TV sets and film – I am the Director of Photography for an up-and-coming creative company and commercial work. It’s hard to determine my speciality apart from ‘people’, it’s a buzz when you capture someone’s feelings, a smile of the eye or just a portrait with that something special, it’s a buzz I can’t explain and I can’t let it go!
Judy, my partner of over a decade and my wife of 2.5 years, has supported, been frustrated by and the subject of my photographic obsession for years, she understood more than she realised when I eventually convinced her to pick up a camera and use it creatively, now she’s got the bug. She’s the sideliner, the one who captures the images you don’t notice and the imporant moments you might easily forget. She has become my second photographer, assistant, manager, business partner and all round foundation that is driving our current success. I would be lost without her.
